ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008
--Heralding a new era in textile machinery exhibitions in China

13 September 2007, Munich

Starting from 2008, a combined show known as “ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008” will be held in China, the show scheduled to take place every two years in Shanghai. This milestone event features the unique strengths of the international ITMA brand and China’s leading textile event. ITMA ASIA and CITME are two of the most influential trade shows for the industry. The integration of these two well-established exhibitions into one mega show aims at offering exhibitors and their customers a high quality cost effective exhibition.

The combined show, owned by CEMATEX and Chinese consortium (CCPIT sub-council of Textile Industry, China Textile Machinery Association, China International Exhibition Centre Group Corp.), has received unprecedented support from both exhibitors and the world’s major textile machinery associations. These include: American Textile Machinery Association (ATMA), China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA), CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers, which comprises ACIMIT (Italy), AMTEX (Spain), BTMA (UK), GTM (Netherlands), Swissmem (Switzerland), Symatex (Belgium), TMAS (Sweden), UCMTF (France) and VDMA (Germany), Japan Textile Machinery Association (JTMA), Korea Textile Machinery Association (KOTMA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI).

All of these associations have also pledged that the combined show will be the only exhibition in China that they will fully support in the future.

10 months to go before the opening of the event, which will be held from 27 to 31 July 2008, more than 1,000 international textile machinery manufacturers have applied for participation. Indeed, space bookings have been so brisk that the organiser has booked two additional halls currently under construction to meet the increased demand, and the show itself will certainly exceed 120,000 square metres.
The show will follow the long-established ITMA and ITMA ASIA Index of Products tradition, with halls being laid out in product sectors for the convenience of visitors. Only manufacturers of textile machinery and accessories are permitted to exhibit, and each exhibitor must show equipment on its stand. No information stands or agencies are permitted.

The organiser has already launched a comprehensive campaign to attract trade visitors from all over the world (non trade are not permitted) which will create a true business platform and enable successful networking between exhibitors and buyers. Visitors are being encouraged to pre-register via fax or on-line with an early bird discount of 40% being offered.

To prevent violation of Intellectual Property Rights, the organiser will set up a strong IPR Protection Office at the exhibition site in collaboration with the local IPR Department. The Chinese Government is committed to taking positive measures against product imitation and technology copying. The on-site IPR Protection Office will work closely with exhibitors and visitors in order to avoid any such problems.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008 is organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Co Ltd and co-organised by MP International Pte Ltd. Other information

With the dismantling of quota restrictions on textile and clothing exports at the end of 2004, and the rapid development of technology, the textile industry has witnessed massive changes. The need for Asian textile markets to modernise their operations in order to compete globally has spawned huge investments in quality machinery. As a result, leading textile machinery manufacturers will benefit from these buoyant market opportunities.

A major manufacturing centre for textile products, China’s textile industry has surpassed one-third of the entire world textile production capacity. According to the China Textile Machinery Association, the value of imported textile machinery surpassed US$4 billion in 2006 – an increase of 19 percent over the previous year’s total, and US$3.05 billion for January to June 2007, an increase of 32.92% over the same period 2006.

Shanghai, the centre of China’s finance, trade and transport, acts also as the centre of textile industry. Over 50% of Chinese textile mills and over 60% of Chinese textile machinery manufacturers are scattered around Shanghai and its surrounding provinces.
Shanghai owns an advanced exhibition centre in China -- the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Situated in Shanghai's Pudong district, the heart of Chinese business, SNIEC has attracted worldwide attention since its opening in November, 2001. Featuring a prime, easily accessible location, a pillar-free, single storey structure and a wide array of expert on-site services, SNIEC has been experiencing rapid growth. It now hosts more than 60 world-class exhibitions each year and this number is set to grow in the future.
SNIEC has 9 exhibition halls with 103,500 square metres of indoor exhibition space. 2 new halls are currently under construction which will be ready by March 2008. The total indoor space will then exceed 120,000 square metres.
